Alias 20.1 (With headset)

Product code: 13201

Alias 20.1 (With headset)

- After extensive testing with TartyBikes and Trialtech team rider Flipp, the Alias 20.1 frame is released!
- Suitable for use either with 20" wheels front and rear for more progressive street trials riding, or with a conventional 20" front wheel and 19" rear wheel for more traditional trials riding.
- Constructed from top quality Japanese cromoly steel to make it strong enough to stand up to Flipp's riding.
- A steep head angle and super short chainstay length make it one of the most nimble, agile frames around - ideal for either trials or street riding.
- Double butted top and down tubes help save weight whilst still being thick enough at each end to give good strength to each frame join.
- Externally relieved 120mm long integrated head tube (headset supplied with frame!) is joined to the top and down tube with large gussets to make the frame as strong as possible in this high-stress area.
- 68mm BB shell with standard 1.37" x 24tpi thread is joined to the chainstays using a substantial box yoke/brace, improving stiffness and durability.
- Wide chainstay and seatstay tube spacing allows the use of up to 2.6" tyres with either wheel size.
- Horizontal dropouts are spaced at 116mm, and feature holes for snail cam bolts to allow easy chain tensioning. Snail cam bolts are included with the frame.
- IS disc mount is lengthened and gusseted to resist cracking or breaking.
- Hard-wearing powdercoated finish is teamed up with some great looking Alias 20.1 graphics.
- Weight: 2.170kg

Geometry (measured with a 365mm x 30mm fork:
- Wheelbase: 937mm
- Chainstay: 336mm (using 18:12 gear ratio)
- BB Height: + 65mm
- Head Angle: 73˚
- Centre of BB to top centre of head tube: 590mm

- Headset type: Integrated
- Bottom bracket type: Screw-in, 68mm shell width
- Dropout spacing: 116mm
- Brake mount type: IS Disc Mount
- Bashguard type: n/a - requires a bashring

Marc Masnou

Hi, I would like to know if my 128 mm VIZ bottom bracket will fit in the frame. Thanks, Marc.

Hi Marc - Your V!Z BB should fit in this frame absolutely fine. Thanks, Mark

Is this frame a limited edition type thing or will it still be being made in years to come? Thanks.

Hi Parker - Alias are bringing out a new colour of this frame very soon so as far as we know they're planning on continuing to produce it. Thanks, Mark

I was wondering what size bottom bracket I shoukd get for this bike. Would a BMX style bottom bracket fit or do I have to stick to trials soecific bottom brackets.

Hi - It's a standard 1.37" x 24tpi screw in bottom bracket shell, so any BB which is this thread size will fit. Thanks.

Tharun Shiv

Hello tartybikes! I have an 'echo lite mk5' and i wanted to upgrade the frame to the 'Alias'. Would all the parts out of the echo(even the fork) fit this frame!? If no, could you please list some of the parts ill have to change? Thank you, cheers! :)

Hi Tharun - Everything should fit, although you would need to get some snail cams to act as chain tensioners. You would need to use these on the outside of the frame, not the inside as you normally would with cams. The only other thing to note is that the Alias frame doesn't have bashplate mounts, so ideally you'd also need to get yourself a bashring to fit on your cranks. Thanks, Mark

Hello, Can you give me the standard s.h.i.s. up and down of the headset please ? thank you

Hi Nico - We're not familiar with that system, but hopefully this helps: IS42/28.6, IS42/30. The bearing seat angle is 45. The Gusset Integrated Headset (Product code: 12625) would do the job nicely. Thanks, Mark

Would it be ok to run a 180 rotor on this frame?

Posted by Jeffrey on 03/08/2018

Reply from TartyBikes on 03/08/2018

Hi Jeffrey - A 180mm rotor should theoretically fit, although generally speaking a well set up 160mm rotor should do the job well, especially if you pop some upgraded brake pads in such as the Trialtech or Jitsie models we stock. Thanks, Mark

Emerson YIP

Does it fit for using 18T freewheel at front with 12T sprocket at the rear?

Hi Emerson - That setup would work perfectly on this frame. Thanks, Mark
