- Updated looks, same great functionality!
- Not suitable for directly mounting two disc brake calipers, of any brand, to one standard disc brake lever
This item is NOT suitable for directly mounting two disc brake calipers to one standard disc brake lever, of any brand (Shimano, Hope, Magura, etc) - please see our
Magura MT2 Twin Caliper Brake if you are looking to achieve this.
- High quality, 6061 aluminium, CNC machined hose splitter for hydraulic
rim brakes - now with a revised shape.
- Tested over a significant period of time with Trialtech team riders such as Stan Shaw.
- Helps to prevent damage to vulnerable cross-overs found on standard brakes.
- Increases brake efficiency and feel by ensuring even fluid flow to each cylinder.
- Large internal bore doesn't restrict fluid flow, especially when compared to rival models.
- Uses three M6 barbed fittings (not supplied) for easy hose connection and replacement. Not compatible with M8 shroud nuts / olives such as those found on many disc brakes. If you're unsure which fittings you require for your cylinders, feel free to ask.
- Not quite as light as integrated barbed fitting options, though cheaper, stronger and easier to fit.
- Bleeding is simple: just bleed one side of the system as normal, cap it off, then bleed the other side of the system.
- Can also be used with disc brakes for custom applications, but please note it is not a straightforward conversion. There are quite a few factors to consider such as thread size of you hose fittings and leverage ratios of the master and slave pistons. We have experience of these potentials issues and are happy to discuss them with you, don't hesitate to give us a call if you are unsure.
- Available in Black anodised finish only with stylish Trialtech 'Bashring' laser etched logos.
- Supplied fully packaged with Trialtech stickers enclosed.
- Weight: 5g
Hello, I am looking at the Trialtech hose splitter V2. I have a doubt on compatibility with a shimano breaking system, specifically MTB ST-EF505 model. link: https://tienda.benotto.com/Freno-de-Disco-Hidraulico-y-Mando-SHIMANO-MTB-ST-EF505BR-MT200-Trasero-8P-Linea-1700mm-sin-Rotor-Tourney/95815.html Can I use this splitter with that system, if not, could you recommend me another splitter? I hope you could help me, thank you very much

Hi Alberto - as mentioned in the description, this splitter isn't suitable for fitting two disc brake calipers to one disc brake lever. This is due to you needing to increase the piston size in the lever to achieve the same level of brake performance as you would have in a conventional single lever/single caliper setup. This is why we fit a rim brake lever to our twin caliper disc brake (which you can see here).
It's also not possible to fit two disc brake levers to one disc brake caliper with this splitter. Most disc brake levers use an open system, involving a reservoir and diaphragm in the lever. The diaphragm in the unused lever would be damaged by operating the other lever, and would cause the brake to fail.
Hopefully this makes sense, but if you have any questions please ask.
Hi there, I have a question regarding one of your products. I'm building a bike for para-athlete and I need to connect 1 road type brake lever to 2 brake calipers. Will Trialtech Sport Hose Splitter V2 work with Shimano brake system like SM-BH59 and its connectors? If not, would you have anything similar and compatible in stock or could you be so kind and point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot. Peter

Hi Peter - The Trialtech splitter won't work as it is for M6 hose fittings, the Shimano hose uses M8. We have a Magura splitter due in stock soon which will work with M8, however driving two calipers from one lever needs careful consideration to piston ratios and leverages - simply bolting two of a caliper to a lever which is only designed to drive one will cause you problems. We haven't found a solution to the issue you have yet, unless the rider can go to a flat bar and use something like a Magura HS33 lever. Thanks.
