Questions

Euan Beaden

What is the performance and differences between the stainless and kevlar hose'?

Hi Euan - The two hoses perform fairly similarly, although the stainless offers a little more protection. The downside to this is a little extra weight compared to the kevlar hose. If you're planning on doing any whips or any moves involving spinning your bars, but you want to use kevlar hose to keep weight down, then I'd recommend running the hose a little longer than normal just to make sure there's plenty of extra slack in it when your bars have been spun round. Thanks, Mark

Hi Scott - If you check out the Additional Information for this product we've just added a list of all the fittings you'd need to fit the Hope hose to various brakes. Thanks, Mark

if i have a pair of 2005 magura leavers and i wanted to put braided hose's all round, what fitting would i need? i have tried looking on the additional info bit but its making no sense to me:( what fitting would i need for the main hose and cross overs. (the cylinders are 2005)

Hi Reece - the fittings for the hoses are available on this page: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=10808 To do two main hoses in braided hosing, you would need to purchase the lengths of hosing itself, 4x Item 03, 4x Item 05, 4x Item 06, 4x Item 09, 4x Item 10. For the two crossovers, you would need the two lengths of hose, 4x Item 02, 4x Item 05, 4x Item 06, 4x Item 09, 4x Item 10. Thanks, Flipp.

hi, I have a hope mini and would like know know if the stainless hose will fit in the standard 90 degree and straight connectors? I'm trying too spend as little as possible to change the hose and appreciate I'll probably need an new olive but hopefully I'll be able to reuse all other bits. Cheers

Hi Steve - thanks for your question. New olives would be ideal, and you would need to change the shrouds too. The regular hose shrouds have a 5mm bore, and stainless requires a 6mm. (Item 05: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/disc_brake_spares/hope_hose_spares/c110p10808.html) I hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Jamie

Hi just wondering if I can use the Kevlar hose on a shimano Saint m810 brake? Thanks Jamie

Hi Jamie - thanks for your question. We are unsure whether you could do this or not. You would have to change all the hose fittings to Hope, though we are not sure they use the same threads or sizes. Thanks, Flipp.

harry

what size is it?

Posted by harry on 30/03/2015

Reply from TartyBikes on 31/03/2015

Hi Harry - the Kevlar hose has a 5mm diameter and the stainless steel hose has a 6mm diameter. They are both sold in 1m lengths - if you buy multiple lengths, we will send them as a single length of hose. Thanks, Flipp.

Russ Newton

Hi, I'm wanting to replace the front and rear hoses with hope stainless hose on my hope tech 3 E4 brakes. Please can you tell me if this is the real hope hose that they (Hopetech) use as I know the hope braided hose is fair superior to other's some people are selling? (Not you, but just wanted to check, been stung before) Many Thanks Russ.

Hi Russ - Yes, this is the official Hope stainless hose, ordered directly from them. We definitely agree about the quality difference you've experienced though! Thanks, Mark

Scott

Does the stainless hose come pre cut in 1 meter lengths or can I have it cut longer? I want to run a long rear hose for footjam tailwhips and so on.

Reply from TartyBikes on 04/07/2016

Hi Scott - If you order more than 1 quantity of the Hope hose, we'll send it all in one long piece (e.g. if you ordered 3 qty of the hose, we would send one 3m length). Thanks, Mark

Thedy

Hi! I have a Hope Tech break installed now, but the hose is pretty damaged (broken in some place). If id like to replace the hose, could i reuse the connectors or i have to buy new ones? Thanks

Posted by Thedy on 12/07/2018

Reply from TartyBikes on 13/07/2018

Hello - You can re-use most of the existing connectors, but some new hose inserts and olives would be a good idea! Technically you can re-use your old ones, but they'll be less likely to seal correctly so for the relatively low cost of the inserts and olives it's worth avoiding potential problems! Thanks, Mark

Brandon lee

Wondering if I would be able to use the hose with the avid elixir 5? Thanks

Posted by Brandon lee on 28/02/2015

Hi Brandon - thanks for your question. You can use this hose with an Elixir 5 brake, but you would need to use it with the Hope hose fittings. Thanks, Flipp.
