Hi I'm just wondering if I can use this half link and remove my mech hanger ?

Hi Scott - Whether you can get away without running a tensioner depends on your frame, gear ratio and how old your chain is. It's not a particularly exact science unfortunately. If you split your chain then loop it around the sprockets and pull it as tight as you can you should be able to get a rough idea if it'd line up OK with a half link. Thanks, Mark
Alrite chaps, will this fit a KMC chain?

Hi Chris - This half-link works well with the KMC chains - Stan used them together for quite a while on one of his previous bikes with no problems. Thanks, Mark
Do they work on chains like the Z610, I have one on my old K710 and that worked fine.

Hi Miles - If you're using the Z610HX then you'd need to make sure you go for the 3/32" option, and if you go for the Z510HX then you'd need to make sure you go for the 1/8" option. If you do that though there shouldn't be anything stopping you using a half-link - I know Stan's previously used a Z610HX with one of these half links with no problems. Thanks, Mark
I got some of these from you few weeks ago. They didn't come with any pins or any means of attaching them to the actual chain. An I missing something or do I need to buy something else to actually fit them to my chain?

Hello - You would just need to use the pins from the outer plates of your chain you're adding the half link to. The half link effectively replaces two of the inner parts of the chain. Thanks, Mark
Hi tarty bikes i have an rolhoff 8speed chain an just converted to single speed and need a half link to get the lenght right an wondered which size would be best. Cheers daz

Hi Daz - We don't much experience with the Rohloff 8-speed chains, but we believe the 3/32" size should fit. To be doubly sure, you could use a 3/32" split link to join the narrow end of the half link to your regular chain - this would mean that there would be sufficient 'float' between the two to make sure it fitted either way. Thanks, Mark
I wanted to make sure that this half link (1/2"x 1/8 version) will work with my new KMC K710 chain that I recently ordered from the HB trials website for my 20" Rockman Flint. The KMC K710 is a 1/2"x 1/8 chain. I wanted to make sure just incase.

Perfect! Works as it should. It seems very "beefy" too so no risk of it snapping anytime soon.
great piece of kit
