Trialtech Sport Sprung Single Sided Tensioner

- Superb quality tensioner from Trialtech, constructed from high grade aluminium alloy, spring steel and chromed steel.
- CNC machined aluminium cage on just one side means the chain can be fitted and removed easily, making rear wheel removal far easier and quicker than double-sided alternatives.
- Two plastic jockey wheels with a multi-coil spring provide high and quiet chain tension that does not reduce over time, combined with the best possible chain contact / wrap around the sprocket.
- Custom design allows the tensioner to be locked securely against the hanger to prevent the main arm from 'bouncing'.
- Finished in anodised matt black with laser etched Trialtech logo on the main arm.
- Sold singly.
- Weight: 104.6g

Questions

Brian Dowell

Hi, I have one of these tensioners on my Inspired Element 24. The problem is that it clunks against the lower chain stay when I land from a drop. It's quite noisy, and I wonder if it's not tight enough.. any clues or advice? Many thanks in advance. Brian.

Hi Brian!
Getting chain tension right with these can be a little tricky, but as a rule of thumb we recommend:
- Pressing the tensioner arm up by hand so you remove tension from the chain. With your other hand, remove the chain from the front chainring and rest it around the BB shell.
- Loosen off the pinch bolt holding the arm in place, then rotate the arm back to pull the chain taut.
- Tighten up the pinch bolt.
- Press the tensioner arm up by hand again to remove tension from the chain, and loop it back around the chainring.
This usually gives adequate chain tension, but if the spring in your tensioner is old/worn or your chain is older/stretched or has a link too many in that will affect things.
If you'd like to e-mail a side-on photo of your drive train to tartybikes@gmail.com we can take a look at it for you and see if you'd be able to remove a link, and check the setup in general.

Would this chain tensioner fit on an Inspired Flow 2018?

Hi Elliot!
It's not possible to fit a sprung tensioner to the Flow. You would need to use the Inspired Flow Chain Tugs.
