A new era for Tarty Bikes!

Tarty Bikes will be under new ownership from March 30th 2026

Now that all the important details have been confirmed, we can notify you all of a change of ownership for Tarty Bikes! This month, Tarty Bikes will be going home to one of its original founders, Dave Cleaver, the man behind Inspired bikes. I (Ben) will be exiting the business at the end of the month of March, 2026. This represents a significant change, but rest assured, Tarty Bikes will continue in the best possible hands. Dave has written a statement below, as have I, clarifying the handover, and what will happen next.

"In light of the continuing difficulties within the cycling industry, we have been working behind the scenes to secure the future of TartyBikes, a key part of the local (and international) trials community for over 20 years. To ensure that we are able to provide a top level of service and support for our customers going forward, it has been necessary to take action beyond the changes that have already been put in place over the last few years. Following careful consideration and exploring various options, we have decided that in the interest of TartyBikes and our loyal customers past, present and future, we will be combining resources and experience with Inspired Bicycles Ltd and the Trialtech brands. This should create a sustainable and reliable source of advice and supply of trials bikes, parts and accessories for many more years to come.

Due to the change in warehouse location required to bring all brands under one roof, Ben has decided that it is time for him to move on to new opportunities and step back from the day to day running of TartyBikes. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ben (and Charlie) for all of their hard work and time over the last 4 years. It has been a particularly tough time to run a bike shop and they have persevered to continue offering excellent customer service and advice, keeping countless riders enjoying their bikes. Operations will now pass to original Tartybikes co-founder, Dave Cleaver and the team at Inspired Bicycles who are keen to build upon the excellent reputations and history that both brands have established over the years.

While this merger will bring together the customer facing retail side of TartyBikes and the design and manufacture elements of the Inspired and Trialtech brands, we intend to continue to stock and supply a wide range of products from the many brands that have worked with us over the years. We are committed to offering the same impartial advice, product variety and support that has become synonymous with TartyBikes.

In order to facilitate this transition, phone lines and email services will be temporarily closed from Thursday 12/03/26 11pm GMT until Monday 30/03/26 9am GMT. After this time, we expect that services will return to a Monday to Friday working week. Any orders placed after Thursday 12/03/26 11pm GMT will not be processed until Monday 30/03/26. We aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible after re-opening on Monday 30/03/26, but there may be a slight delay while we work through any backlog. We appreciate your patience during this time and hope that any disruptions will be minimal but very worthwhile in the long term."

"That’s a wrap, folks

Tarty Bikes will be handed over to new owners effective from March 30th. We’ve kept this on the down low until everything was in place for a smooth transition to minimise any order disruption.

For me, my time as Tarty Bikes owner is at an end. It’s been an intense 4 years guiding the business through arguably the most volatile time the cycle industry has ever experienced. For me personally, I’ve felt over the past few months that I’ve taken the business as far as I’m able, and it’s time for someone new to come in with fresh energy, experience, and crucially a real understanding and appreciation of what Tarty Bikes is all about, and how we’ve historically done business. The good news is that Tarty Bikes will live on, and continue to be a positive force in trials.

I’ll be helping Dave and his team settle in this month, and tying off any loose ends while we transition. I won’t be as available as I normally am during the hand-over period, but I’ll be around up to March 31^stto help them with any outstanding orders, and make sure everything is set to continue as normal.

I’ve had some great times working with fantastic people, and I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity to be involved in Tarty Bikes, and the wealth of experience I’ve gained. The trials community are a stand-out bunch of people, some of the best customers I’ve ever had the pleasure to serve, and you’ll all be missed. I’m sure I’ll see some of you in the future at events and group rides!

I’m really proud of the state in which I’m leaving Tarty Bikes to its new owners, maintaining its legacy reputation, and on the best possible terms with everyone who has been involved with the business during my time here from suppliers to customers. Thank you everyone for your support over the years.

A note for customers with outstanding orders

Outstanding orders for customers will be processed and shipped as normal up to the cut-off of 11pm GMT on the 12th of March 2026. The site will remain active after this time, and you can place orders as normal, but no orders will be processed or shipped until March 30th, at which point Dave and his team will be the point of contact for all things Tarty Bikes going forward.

There is a lot of work still to be done for the handover, so phone, email and messaging may not be actioned as quickly as normal, but I will do my best! I plan to get all current outstanding orders shipped by the end of next week.
