Magura Barbed Fitting

- Replacement barbed fitting for Magura HS33 hydraulic brakes.
- Fits all colours of hose, easily fitted with a couple of bits of wood and a mallet (a bit of lube helps it slide in too!).
- Only compatible with nylon rim brake hose, such as Racing Line, Echo, Trialtech and Magura; not with disc brakes (other than very old Magura Julies).

Questions

Harrison

Hi would these fittings be used as a main pipe instead of a crossover?

Hi Harrison - It depends on which slave cylinders you're using. For a Magura HS33, you will always need to use a shroud nut with an olive at the lever end of the brake. At the slave end, if you have an M8/M6 cylinder you'll need to use a shroud nut and olive for the main hose and a barbed fitting for the cross over. If you happen to have an M6/M6 cylinder on both sides (which is pretty unusual) then you could use a barbed fitting, but often this won't be the case. Thanks, Mark

Andreas

Does this fit into a hs11

Hi Andreas - This will fit in one of the slave cylinders for a HS11. If you're trying to fit it to the HS11 brake lever, you would need to use the Magura M9 EBT Barbed Fitting (Quick find code: 011528). Thanks, Mark

Ben

I have what looks like your Magura HS33 2011 hydraulic rim brakes. I keep having a problem with the cable from the lever bursting out at the cylinder end. I keep replacing the olive and bleeding and it lasts for a bit, then the same happens again. I don't suppose there is some sort of barbed fitting that I could use (with an olive?) in place of the current shroud nut?

Hi Ben - thanks for your question. Sorry to hear you're having trouble - it sounds like something is just not set up quite right. This video is a very good guide (from around 1:30 onwards) for how to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJOD_9BwgAw If you follow this video and use a new olive (they are not reusable) then your brake should be fine! Thanks, Flipp.

what is thitem pleasee thread pattern on this

Hi Dave - thanks for your question. The thread on these fittings is an M6 x 1mm, and the length of the section that fits inside the lever/slave cylinder is 10mm, though the threaded section is shorter than that. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Prebs

Would you describe how to use a couple of bits of wood with a mallet to get this little b***** into the hose please. I' starting to curse. cheers

Hi Prebs - thanks for your question. If you drill a 5mm hole in the wood and then cut through the middle of the hole you will end up with two "clamps". Put these in a vice with the hose inside the two halves of the hole and tap the barb in. Remember to leave enough hose poking out for the barb to fit inside as it will need to make the hose expand to larger than what the "clamps" will allow! Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

i bought these barbed fittings as i had a old syringe and tubing lying around at home. i then attached the barbs to 2 bits of tubing and screwed one into my 2004 hs33 lever after removing the bleed screw and the other one to the bleed screw of the brake at the wheel end of the system and used the syringe to pump fresh fluid into the system for a cheaper alternative to maguras bleed kit. all in all tarty bikes hi quality service which was speedy and a top notch product
