Questions

Garry Campbell

How do you actually fit these? Does the bottom part fit into your steerer tube and the top you just use as your top cap?

Reply from TartyBikes on 28/12/2010

Hi Garry - That's correct! They use a traditional star nut like most top cap kits, but the difference being the Gusset kit uses a star nut with a wider diameter centre that means, in conjunction with the top-cap bolt supplied with the kit, you can route your front brake cable/hose through your steerer. Thanks, Mark

Ben

is this compatible with any headset? and is there anything else that I would need to run my brake hose through the headset? (I have a magura HS33 up front)

Reply from TartyBikes on 04/08/2011

Hi Ben - This will be compatible with all headset, BUT the thickness of your steerer tube will be the main issue. If you've got a fork with a thicker steerer tube such as the Echo Urban, Trialtech or Inspired fork then this won't fit as the star nut has to be quite large to accommodate a wider core to thread your hose/cable through. It should fit most other forks though. Thanks, Mark

Todd

Howdy, will the star nut be compatible with the Try-All Forxx 2011?

Hi Todd - This kit should fit the 2011 Forxx fine. Thanks, Mark

Will this fit my onza bird 2010

Scott

Hi tartybikes crew, would it be possible to fit this star but to a pair of because curved blade forks or would the steerer be too small? Thanks guys.

Posted by Scott on 09/09/2013

Reply from TartyBikes on 09/09/2013

Hi Scott - unfortunately that would not work. The steerer tube on those forks is quite thick, and the star nut would be too big to fit without modification. Thanks, Flipp.

nic

hi can you recommend some fork that is compatible with this star nut for me tochoose from? for 24" street trial

Posted by nic on 11/11/2013

Reply from TartyBikes on 11/11/2013

Hi Nic - thanks for your question. Because of how large this star nut is, the only forks we stock that it will fit in to without heavy modification are those with steel steerers. That means only the Onza Zoot forks. Thanks, Flipp.

nic

if say I want to use an echo urban fork. will you be able to mod and fit kit into the fork for me? thanks

Posted by nic on 12/11/2013

Reply from TartyBikes on 12/11/2013

Hi Nic - thanks for your question. That is a tricky one. We are able to do this, though because of the thickness of the steerer tube of the Urban forks, the modifications needing to be made to the star nut would quite likely render it unusable. We could do the work, though it would cost around as much as the kit itself, and there is a strong chance it will simply fall to pieces when you try to use it. Thanks, Flipp.

Ciaran Carter

would the top cap fit the neon welded stem? if so how would i remove my current starnut and apply this one, i have onza rip 2011 forks

Posted by Ciaran Carter on 25/12/2013

Reply from TartyBikes on 30/12/2013

Hi Ciaran - thanks for your question. The top-cap in this kit will not work with stems that require a sloping top-cap. Sorry about that. Thanks, Flipp.

Harry

Hi tartybikes, I was wondering if you could tell me what the easiest way to be able to run my front brake hose through my fork and what I'd have to buy and do for tailwhips. I am very confused by a few different answers from different people. I have a cane creek s2 headset and echo urban 2013 forks (20 inch wheel, if that makes a difference). Thanks Harry

Hi Harry - thanks for your question. Unfortunately there is no way of doing this with Echo forks. The steerer is too thick for a hollow star nut. There may be a headlock somewhere that would make this possible, but there is not much space at the bottom of the steerer so it would still be very close. Your best bet would be to simply use a longer cable/hose. Sorry about that. Thanks, Flipp.

James

Hi, If i brought this item for my onza zoot, would i beagle to do a foot jam tailwip, Thanks

Posted by James on 13/08/2014

Reply from TartyBikes on 13/08/2014

Hi James - this would fit in your Zoot forks just fine, and would allow your front cable to be routed through your steerer tube. You would still need to ensure your rear brake cable is long enough to go all the way around to be able to do footjam whips. Thanks, Flipp.

James

Hi, If i brought this, would i still need a headstet Thanks

Posted by James on 18/08/2014

Reply from TartyBikes on 19/08/2014

Hi James - yes, this is just the top cap and star nut. You would still need the rest of the headset. Thanks, Flipp.

Andre w

Hi. Will it fit to my inspired element 2013 fork?

Posted by Andre w on 23/02/2016

Reply from TartyBikes on 24/02/2016

Hi Andre - This won't fit your Element forks, unfortunately. The only option would be to use the Inspired Headlock system, but Inspired are currently out of stock of these and so we are unable to order more at the moment. If you have any engineering companies near you, you could get them to tap threads into the inside of the steerer tube to M18 x 1.0 - this would then allow you to use the Inspired Team Top Cap which would let you route your hose through it. Thanks, Mark

Harry

Hi, would this fit an onza sting 2013???

Hi Harry - This would fit the Sting fine. Thanks, Mark

John

Hey, I was wondering why doesn't it fit the inspired flow 24" forks, and when will the inspired headlock system be availible? There is not any informations about it on their website

Posted by John on 30/08/2016

Reply from TartyBikes on 30/08/2016

Hi John - If you have the black Inspired Flow bike then this starnut would fit fine due to it using a thinner-walled steel steerer tube. The previous purple and latest yellow Flow/Flow Plus bikes use aluminium steerer tubes which are too thick to fit the star nut in, unfortunately. Inspired are waiting for more information about a new batch of headlocks, but there's no indication of when they'll be available yet, sorry. Thanks, Mark

connell

Hello, will this work with an Echo SL headset

Posted by connell on 18/09/2016

Reply from TartyBikes on 19/09/2016

Hi Connell - The headset shouldn't be a problem, but the thickness of your steerer tube might be. If you can measure the inner diameter of your steerer tube that will give you an indication - you ideally need the inner diameter to be around 26mm for this to fit. If it is much smaller than that then it won't I'm afraid. Thanks, Mark

Thedy

Hi! I have a Neon fork (dont know exact model, by looks its like a "Neon Competition" but that i found only with HS33 version in google and i have a disc one). would this fit in it? Also do you sell star nut installer tool that fits this?

Posted by Thedy on 01/11/2017

Reply from TartyBikes on 02/11/2017

Hi Thedy - Unfortunately, these only fits forks with steel steerer tubes so consequently won't fit your forks. If you want to route your front brake cable through your forks, the Inspired Headlock V2 might work depending on the type of stem you use. If it's a flat top cap stem then it should be fine, although you'd need to check that you've got at least 205mm of steerer tube for it to work. Thanks, Mark

hyeongsun

hi tartybikes, Is it possible to use inspired flow2016?

Posted by hyeongsun on 09/07/2018

Reply from TartyBikes on 09/07/2018

Hello - If your Flow has steel forks then this star nut kit will fit fine. If your Flow has alloy forks, you'll need to use the Inspired Headlock Kit. If you're unsure, simply take your existing top cap off - if your steerer tube wall thickness is around 1mm then they'll be steel forks. If it's much thicker than that then you'll have the alloy forks. Thanks, Mark

Rick Curran

Hi, would this fit into a fork with an internal diameter of 24mm?

Posted by Rick Curran on 20/09/2018

Reply from TartyBikes on 21/09/2018

Hi Rick!
As standard, this would be quite a squeeze into a 24mm steerer tube. However, if you've got access to a grinder or something similar you could take a little material off the outside of the star nut to make it fit.
Just bear in mind that it's designed to be a tight fit, and to require some force to get the star nut seated into the steerer tube, so take a little off at a time until you get the correct fit rather than taking too much off and finding the star nut is able to pull back up the steerer tube! You should only need to take a very small amount to get it to fit.

Yannic Hendrikx

I would like to run the front brake cable of my inspired element 24" trough the fork. Would this star nut work for that? Or do i need to do/buy something else? I've seen other people do it but im not sure how exactly.

Posted by Yannic Hendrikx on 19/06/2016

Reply from TartyBikes on 20/06/2016

Hi Yannic - This star nut doesn't fit the Inspired forks unfortunately, but you would be able to use the Inspired Headlock System (Quick find code: 012294) instead. We're currently out of stock of them but should have more in soon. Thanks, Mark
