Hope ISO Disc Brake Adaptor

Sold out

Please check the disc mount position on your frame or fork before ordering this item! Many trials frames and forks have their mounts in a 'plus' position as standard, meaning you may require a different adaptor than initially expected.

- The ideal way to get more power out of your front disc brake... a bigger rotor!
- A 'Plus 20' adaptor allows you to go from a 160mm rotor to a 180mm one, and the 'Plus 40' to a 200mm rotor (for example - simply add 20mm or 40mm to your current rotor size).
- Not compatible with 183mm and 203mm rotors.
- Fits almost all modern 51mm-spaced disc brake calipers, please enquire if unsure.
- Anodised silver finish to match the latest Hope brake calipers.
- Comes complete with mounting hardware.
- Weight (without bolts) - Plus 20: 32g. Plus 40: 23g.

Additional Information

Please note that the +40 adaptor has slight clearance issues on most trials forks with a long 'arm' where the caliper mounts (such as the latest Echo/ZOO/GU, Inspired and Trialtech forks). This can be remedied with a little filing, please contact us if you would like further details.
May require a small amount of filing around the lower mounting point when used with Echo TR Disc brakes to allow correct setup.

Questions

Bill

Will these adapters work OK with the old Hope Mini number 3 and 5 calipers? Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill - They should work absolutely fine. Thanks, Mark

Fernando Nunes de Barros

I would like to know wich adaptor should I get in order to run a Hope Tech Trial with 180mm disc in my Inspired. I'm not sure about the number of the caliper, but I used to run it in a 20" because simple with 160mm disc without any adapters

Hello - If you used it with a 160mm rotor with no adaptors, it sounds like you have a #3 Caliper. This means if you're using it on an Inspired Fourplay or Skye frame you wouldn't need any adaptors to use it with a 180mm rotor. Thanks, Mark

Scott

I have an old Shimano XT 4 piston ISO caliper would this adaptor work to get it up to a 180mm front?

Posted by Scott on 13/09/2014

Reply from TartyBikes on 15/09/2014

Hi Scott - there's been several XT brakes so we couldn't be sure without knowing exactly which you had, but if it is an ISO caliper then this should work perfectly to add 20mm or 40mm to your rotor size. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Dean

What's the weight of these adaptors?

Hi Dean - Without bolts the Plus 20 adaptor weighs 32g and the Plus 40 is 23g. Thanks, Mark

Tristan Jackson

hi guys, will this adaptor work to put my arcade up to 200 mm disks on front and back? like will the adaptor work front and rear?, thanks

Posted by Tristan Jackson on 08/04/2015

Reply from TartyBikes on 09/04/2015

Hi Tristan - thanks for your question. These would work for that purpose in some setups, but it depends a lot on what parts you use. It also depends on which version of the frame you have. There have been two batches - one of which used an IS brake mount position on the rear, and one which used a IS +20mm. We will need more details to know which adaptors would work for your setup. It is also worth noting that failures caused by using a rotor larger than 185mm are not coverable under warranty. Thanks, Flipp.

Tristan Jackson

hi guys tristan again, its the newest version of the arcade so i think it already has +20 so would i just put another +20 mount on it? thanks

Posted by Tristan Jackson on 12/04/2015

Hi Tristan - if you're currently using a #3 style caliper mounted directly to the frame then adding a +20mm mount between them will function as you are wanting. If you are using a Post Mount caliper on Hope Adaptor F then you would need to change to Adaptor B. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Do you have is to is adapters for 203mm rotors?

Posted by emilio maggio on 08/09/2017

Hi Emilio - Unfortunately, Hope only make their adaptors in 20mm increments, and we don't stock any other types of IS-to-IS adaptors. Sorry!

Roland

Perfect adapters

Posted by Roland on 22/10/2015

Ordered the 40mm ones to go from a 160mm rotor to a 200mm one. Exceptional quality from Hope, although I had to file them a bit to fit the Echo TR brakes I have (not much). Top notch service from Tartyboys as per usual. Great all around.

Reply from TartyBikes on 23/10/2015

Hi Roland - Thanks for the review. We have found that with some calipers the Hope adaptors require a little 'tweaking' with a file, but as you found generally not much, and certainly not enough that would be detrimental to the performance of the adaptor.

Andrea

mounting with Echo brake

Posted by Andrea on 31/03/2012

i used this 20mm Hope Adaptor to mount 180 Rear Echo Disc Brake on my Adamant 24" urban, and had to file off about 1,5mm on the lower part of back connection of the caliper, otherwise it cannot be mounted. it's been a five minute extra work which don't compromise brake effectiveness.

Reply from TartyBikes on 02/04/2012

Hi Andrea - It seems due to the shape of the Echo caliper you may need to 'adjust' the shape of the adaptor slightly, unfortunately. I'm glad it's worked out for you though! Thanks for the review.

Fixed my braking issue

Posted by Peter on 03/10/2012

I have a 2012 echo street trials, it's great except it comes with 160mm rotors in the rear, which imo isn't powerful enough for trials. Braking was bad, I couldn't get them to lock up without wrenching on the lever and after 5 mins my hands were killed. I tried everything, switched the pads to Hope, water, sandpaper, brake-in tutorials etc. Finally I asked the these guys, they said to get Hope Mono trials rotors in 180mm and the +20mm adapter... Well it worked like a charm!!! I noticed that the Inspired bikes come with 180mm on the rear as well, so seems like the right size. Btw: Same issue as other reviewer about fitting echo calipers on this - the back hole gets offset by the housing of caliper by about 1mm. I have access to a milling machine, so I made it bigger =) File/grinder/dremel should work too though.

Hi Peter - I'm glad this has given you the braking power you're after. Thanks for the detailed review!
