Questions

Shane Stevens

What size spanner is needed for the nut that's supplied with this sprocket and where could I get a replacement nut?

Hi Shane!
The lockring for the Echo splined hub isn't sold with these sprockets, but they are available separately here.
The lockring size is approx. 33mm, so your best bet is usually to just use a large adjustable spanner as getting hold of the right sized spanner is tricky.
Hopefully this helps, but if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Is it possible to get a 13T cog with this spline?

Hi Dave!
Unfortunately, Echo don't make that size, sorry! They make the 12t for their 20" bikes using 18:12, 14t for their 24" bikes using 18:14 and 15t for their 26" bikes using 18:15, but as none of their bikes are supplied with a 13t they don't make one.
Sorry we can't be more help!

Istvan

Hi! Would this work on the front with the splined Echo crancks? Thank you.

Hi Istvan!
Due to the way that the Echo cranks pre-load the freewheel getting this sprocket to work would be difficult as you would need to experiment a lot and adapt some spacers to make it pre-load the sprocket, cranks and BB correctly.
The other issue is that you'd need to use an extremely small rear sprocket to have the 'right' gear ratio afterwards. If you normally run, say, 18:15 on a 26", by running a 15t sprocket up front you'd need to use a 12t or 13t sprocket on the rear. This would lead to putting a lot more force through your chain due to the load being shared over fewer teeth - there was a period where riders switched to 16:14, but many found increased chain wear and breakages so avoided it. You would probably encounter a similar issue.
If you're planning on running a splined front sprocket setup, the Trialtech Sport Lite Splined crankset offers a little more versatility, although still requires you to experiment with spacers for an optimum setup.
Hopefully this helps - if you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
