Questions

Chris

Hello, is this rotor a good match for the shimano m820 brakes? I am currently running the m820s with an avid rotor so will this rotor improve my braking? Thanks

Hi Chris - thanks for your question. This would probably offer a very similar performance to what you currently have. The hole-to-surface area ratio is fairly similar to a lot of Avid rotors, so the bite and hold would very likely feel similar. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Jiph

Hello, I bought the Inspired Skye Team, it's the best and coolest bike I've ever ridden, it's so much better than the Skye Orange! But, when I received the Skye Team, I changed to my "Shimano Saint M810" brakes with these SLX RT66 203mm rotors, it worked fine on front wheel. But, on the rear wheel the rotor touches the frame a tiny bit. It looks like the 203mm rotor is a tiny bit too big, I never had this problem when I used them on my Skye Orange. Thanks

Hi Jiph - thanks for your question. These frames are designed to be used with rotors no larger than 185mm, and doing so will void warranty claims should the frame fail in that area. The 203mm rotor will not fit because it is not designed for such a large rotor. Thanks, Flipp.

Hi tartybikes My question is if it's possible to fit any rotor to any brake or if their is limits to what rotors i can choose from? I ride the DB5 brakes and I'm planing on installing a set of Avid disks. Would this work? //William

Hi William - The only time there is somewhat of a limitation is with Hope trials disc brakes. They have much deeper pads than normal, so ideally need the Hope rotors to suit. Avid, Magura and Shimano brakes all have similar pad depths so can use a wider range of rotors. Either the Shimano SLX or the Magura Storm HC rotors would fit your DB5 brakes fine. Thanks, Mark

Tristan Jackson

hi there, how well would the shimano slx brakes work if i was to use G01S-Resin Pads on these rotors? do you recommend using resin pads or normal thanks

Hi Tristan - thanks for your question. The resin pads would offer a bit more bite which will help with the sorts of performance you would want in trials riding. They don't last quite as long as sintered pads, but trials usage doesn't wear disc brake pads very quickly anyway. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Great power

Posted by Nicolas on 24/09/2015

Amazing stoping power! Got these in 203mm front and rear on my inspired arcade with shimano saint brakes. They work super fine and have a nice feel. I also got the saint trial tech pads which unfortunatly worked really badly and looked completely worn out after only 2weeks of use. The problem got fixed when I changed for the stock shimano pads! Well worth buying if your looking for some mean braking power!

Hi Nicolas - I'm glad the rotor worked for you, although it's disappointing to hear about the Trialtech pads. We've sold many pairs of them and haven't heard any issues to date so that's very rare! It may be worth contacting the shop you bought them from to see if they can get in touch with Trialtech and resolve the problem you have with them.
