- Pedal thread helicoiling service, to repair damaged pedal threads on your crank arm.
- Available for all models of aluminium crank arm providing it doesn't use an insert as standard.
- Order this product online first (to make sure we have enough stock of inserts for your crank), then please post us your crank and your pedal so we can fit your pedal before returning everything to you. If you can include a note detailing your order number, that would also be most appreciated, so we know where to send it back to!
- Only available for 9/16" x 20tpi pedal threads.
- Turnaround time for this service is usually 24-48 hours from us receiving your crank and pedal.
- Once fitted to your bike again, it is important to keep on top of the torque of your pedal, we recommend every 10 minutes or so for at least the first few rides.

Hi There, Have an SR Suntour 160 MM crank arm (left), can you repair that ? Also an XT hollowtech 2? Cheers James

Hi James!
Repairing those cranks should be no problem. If you'd like us to double check, you're welcome to send us a photo of each crank, but we should be able to get them back up and running.

Niall

Hi there, I have a stages 105 170mm power meter crank arm that the last 3 threads have worn. (For use with shimano spd road pedals) Can this size be repaired by you guys ? Thanks

Hi Niall!
It looks like those crank arms should accept a standard 9/16" pedal, which means our helicoils will be the right size.
You're welcome to post the crank arm to use for us to see if the repair is possible, but from seeing images of those cranks online I believe it should be.

Hi, Iíve a brand new left hand crank arm Iíve damaged as the pedal came loose while I was riding and I did not notice before it was too late. The pedal screws in, but the crank thread is damaged so the pedal is slightly out of alignment and has a wobble. Can this be corrected with a helicoil? I imagine it would need clamping and drilling with a pillar drill to get it 100% straight again.

Hi Alex!
We've repaired some extensively damaged cranks in the past so it should be no problem, but you're welcome to post it to us for us to check it out for you first free of charge.

Hi, I'm restoring a classic and would be grateful if you could give me a quote for helicoiling a left hand crank for a 9/16in x 20tpi left hand pedal spindle. The thread has been retapped, but there isn't enough meat left to secure the pedal. Its a 1980s TA crank, all alloy, with no current insert. Kind regards, Mike Bray

Hi Mike!
The price for that service would be the same shown on the website. That's the same size/thread/TPI we use for our helicoil service.
If you'd like us to check if the crank is suitable, you're welcome to post it on to us first and we can make sure that there's enough material left to install the helicoil before you order the helicoil service itself.

Sean

Does this price include return postage or is that extra at checkout ?

Hi Sean - That's an extra price, which is displayed at the Checkout. We send crank arms back using courier delivery to ensure they get back to you safely. Thanks, Mark

Liam

Hi I've stripped the pedal thread on some new xt cranks, looking at your helicoil service would this make them goiod as new and just as strong as Ill be going to the alps on them ion the summer. Cheers Liam

Hi Liam - Helicoiling a crank arm actually makes the thread area stronger than when they're new. As it's a large, steel thread, it's much more durable than the aluminium the crank arm is made from so should last much longer. Thanks, Mark
