Questions

Pete

Hi, Noticed a review of these that said cracks appeared after two years - how long would you expect these to last using them for trials? Pete

Hi Pete!
How long pedals will last is always a tricky one, as different riding styles will affect how long they last. If you frequently do moves to pedal (such as sidehopping to pedal, or doing a hook then hopping up to pedal) then we'd recommend trying a different model of pedal. If you don't do that style of move, but just sometimes catch or clip your pedals if you fail a move, these pedals should be fine.
In all honesty, that review is the first time we've heard of someone cracking the pedal body in that way. Depending on your riding style though, 2 years is a good amount of time to get out of a lightweight trials-orientated pedal being used regularly.
The only caveat to this is that if you ride unicycle trials, we would not recommend these pedals. The extra stresses placed on them through riding unicycle trials, along with the more frequent moves to pedal that tends to accompany unicycle trials, mean they will break faster.
Overall, most of the guys in the office have used various iterations of the Echo TR Platform pedals over the years and we've all found them to last well, as well as being nice and grippy. As with most platform pedals you may need to nip a pin up from time to time, but if that's an issue for you simply applying some threadlock will help keep them in place. If you're riding bike trials and don't go to pedal often you shouldn't have any problems, but if you're concerned feel free to pop us an e-mail and we can suggest an alternative.

Will the colorful finish wear away quickly ?

Hi Joey!
The TR Platform pedals are anodised rather than painted so the colour lasts really well.
If you hit the pedals in a way that scratches the body then you will get a little of the raw silver finish in the scratch, but in terms of general wear and tear they will retain their colour for a long time.

Pedals has nice grip. but had some issues with them. after 1-2 weeks of riding pedals began to have some slack in them (fixed it with loctite by the tartybikes advice) Pins are getting loose over time. Lost half of them Probably you should tighten them every week or put them on thread locker. Lasted me almost 2 years. Cracks started appearing on the body(could send you photos if you want) Overall nice pedals but could be improved :)

Hi Konstantin!
We're sorry to hear you're unhappy with your pedals. 2 years for a lightweight pair of pedals isn't too bad, but we'd still be interested to see the cracks that you've got in your pedals - we haven't heard of this happening before so it would be good to understand it more.
Regarding pins coming loose, unfortunately this can happen with any platform pedal. We would recommend regularly checking pins, as well as initially installing them with threadlock if you have some available.
