- High quality freewheel from Jitsie.
- 36 tooth ratchet ring with a total of 9 pawls provides 108 engagement points.
- Pawls engage three at a time, giving good reliability.
- Fitted with extra strong springs, providing more positive engagement, a louder sound and reducing bedding in time. Please note that this produces more 'drag' than a regular single speed freewheel.
- Four deep recesses in the main body save weight and increase BB clearance over 'external' tabs, and allow nearly all 4-prong freewheel tools to be used.
- Lockring on the rear of the freewheel faces the crank, so cannot not come undone when riding, and also means it can be used on rear hubs.
- 1.37" x 24tpi thread fits almost all hubs and cranks.
- Weight: 176g (18T), 168g (17T).
- 16T is only for use on rear hubs by 'full sized' riders (weighing over 45kg) - use on crank arms by riders over this weight may cause the outer to break and this isn't covered by the warranty. This is the same for all 16T freewheels and it is due to the reduction in diameter of the outer ring. For kids' bikes, these can be used on the cranks no problem.

Overall Thickness: 17.2mm

This freewheel must be bedded in before trials use, to ensure any excess grease used when assembling the freewheel works away from the mechanism. You can do this by riding the freewheel around 'normally' for a few hours, both freewheeling and engaging the mechanism gently. If the freewheel is subjected to trials use without having been bedded in, the pawls will not engage correctly and this causes the freewheel to skip, damaging the pawls and ratchet. If you wish to speed up this process, you can thin the grease down with light oil like GT85 or WD40, by spraying it between the centre and outer teeth of the freewheel and rotating it. Failure to bed the freewheel in correctly will void the warranty.

Additional Information

Also compatible with SKF bottom brackets, however you may not be able to run a bashring with this setup - please contact us if you are unsure.

Can be used on the rear as long as you have a hub with standard 1.37" x 24 tpi thread. Can be used on the rear as long as you have a hub with standard 1.37" x 24 tpi thread.

Always ensure the lockring is kept tight, failure to do so may limit chances of any warranty replacement being issued. If you need help with how to do this then just give us a call!

Freewheel sound level:

All freewheels tested under similar conditions. Please note that the sound level of a freewheel may change after bedding in. A 10 dB increase in sound level is approximately equivalent to double the perceived volume.

Questions

Scorpio

Will this freewheel provide the same durability and performance compared to the Echo SL and TR? I'm asking because I haven't seen any reviews on this freewheel anywhere as yet.

Hi Scorpio - thanks for your question. The Jitsie freewheels seem to be just as reliable as the Echos - we've not heard people complaining either! Thanks, Flipp.

Giovanni

This freewheel fits the rear hub (not a hope one, it's trialtech i think) of my 2012 fourplay? Also going 17t (stock is 16t) would help with learning pedal kicks/hopping from rear wheel? Thank you!

Hi Giovanni - This freewheel would fit your Inspired fine. Going to a lighter gear ratio may help a little, but it will make other moves harder. I would suggest sticking with the standard 22:16 ratio as this is still light enough to learn pedal kicks, and won't hold you back for other moves. Thanks, Mark

william petersen

wich option would be the best for an 26 inch?? thanks

Hi William - That depends on your rear sprocket size, but generally an 18t freewheel up front with a 15t fixed sprocket on the rear works best. If you're using a mountain bike style setup, a 22t chainring teamed with an 18t freewheel on your rear hub would work too. Thanks, Mark

Thedy

Hi! Would this fit the Onza Zoot DD on the front? or should i put it on the back and change the front to 22t fixed? If 2nd than could you suggest what front sprocket+bash can i use without changing cranks? :) Thanks

Hi Thedy - This freewheel would work fine on the front of your Zoot - you'd just need to get an 18t freewheel to maintain the standard gear ratio. You could switch it to a rear freewheel if you'd like though. To do this, you'd need a 16t freewheel, then the 22t Trialtech Sport Screw On sprocket and Trialtech Sport Full bashring for your cranks. Thanks, Mark

Toby Race

I have an Onza zoot, i would like to run this with 16t on the back and i also have Truvativ Husselfelt cranks I would like to run. what sprocket size would you suggest to keep the same gearing. Thanks, Toby

Hi Toby - To keep the same gear ratio as the standard Zoot, you would need to use a 22t chainring with a 16t freewheel on the rear. This is the same ratio found on the Inspired bikes too. Thanks, Mark
