Echo SL 108 Splined

Product code: 13060

Echo SL 108 Splined

- Echo's SL 108 engagement point 9-pawl freewheel, now with a splined interface!
- Please note that this freewheel uses an Echo-specific spline making them compatible ONLY with the Echo SL 2015 Splined and TR 2015 Splined cranks.
- Aside from the spline interface, this freewheel is identical to the regular Echo SL 108 freewheel.
- Unique reversed spring system ensures accurate and positive engagement, and also makes the freewheel very loud.
- Nine high quality heat treated steel pawls are offset into groups of three into a tough 36 tooth ratchet, giving the highest number of engagement points of any freewheel available!
- Another great feature of the freewheel is the location of the bearing preload lockring. This is situated against the crank arm to prevent it from coming loose.
- The lockring also tightens down against a set of shims, this has two benefits: It ensures correct bearing preload and stops the lockring from tightening over time and damaging the bearings.
- 8 large removal pockets are also set into the other side of the freewheel: these do not stick out like tabs, which allows shorter bottom brackets to be run, and therefore better chain lines and increased chain life.
- Only available in Black (additional photo of silver freewheel is just to show the internals).
- Weight: 183.8g

Overall Thickness: 16.98mm

Additional Information

Also compatible with SKF bottom brackets, however you may not be able to run a bashring with this setup - please contact us if you are unsure.

Can be used on the rear as long as you have a hub with standard 1.37" x 24 tpi thread.

Always ensure the lockring is kept tight, failure to do so may limit chances of any warranty replacement being issued. If you need help with how to do this then just give us a call.

These freewheels may appear to 'rattle' from new - this is down to the bearing system. It would be possible to add an extra bearing in and stop the rattle, however this would then cause the freewheel to lock up!

Can be removed with this tool, you do not need the specific Echo tool however it does fit a little better.

Freewheel sound level:

All freewheels tested under similar conditions. Please note that the sound level of a freewheel may change after bedding in. A 10 dB increase in sound level is approximately equivalent to double the perceived volume.

Does this SL108 splined freewheel fit my Echo 24" MK 5 that I bought from you (TaryBikes) in March 2017? Unsure if I should buy this splined, or the screw on. Ordering brakes pads shipped to Canada, figured I'd get spare freewheel too...

Hi Greg!
If it's the Mk5 model then I believe you'll need the screw-on SL freewheel, but your best option is to take your crank arm off and double check.
If you have the splined version you should be able to then remove the freewheel by hand easily. If not, you have the screw-on version.
If you don't have a crank removal tool, you can check by looking at the face of the freewheel nearest the frame. If the freewheel body has a smooth face like the photo of the Splined freewheel shows, it should be the splined version. If it has 4 long recessed removal tabs, it will be the screw-on version (you can see them in this photo).
If you're unsure, feel free to e-mail some photos of the freewheel/BB area to us and we should be able to help.

Will this fit my 2012 Bionic B5R?

Hi William!
Without knowing the specific setup you're using it's hard to say for sure, but if you're currently using an 18t screw-on freewheel then this freewheel should work fine as a direct replacement for it.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

It's ok for Czar Ion 2017 ?

Hi Massimo!
This freewheel should work fine on your Czar, but to make sure it's definitely the splined freewheel you require I'd recommend taking the drive-side crank arm off to check.
If your current freewheel is splined then this one would be a direct replacement for it.

Is this freewheel exactly the same as the screw on version of the echo sl 108

Hi Simon!
That's correct. It's just the crank interface that's different.
