Gusset Kojak Chain Tugs (pair)

Product code: 170

Gusset Kojak Chain Tugs (pair)

Pair, Black
Pair, Silver

Sold out

- 10mm chain tugs to fit some bikes with horizontal dropouts.
- If your frame's dropouts are quite small (as found on most modern frames) then these will be too big. Please inquire if unsure!
- Sturdy CNC machined steel construction, with tough M8 threads (standard tugs are M6 thread).
- Now come finished in a sleek black colour, not the silver shown in the product photo.
- Sold as a pair.
- Weight: 88g

Please note that chain tugs are not designed to take any load, their job is to tension the chain and then your wheel bolt/nut keeps the wheel in place. Chain tugs breaking is not covered under warranty for this reason.

Will these fit an Ozonys Crown?

Posted by Aaron

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Aaron - The Trialtech tugs would be a slightly easier fit. The Gusset tugs may fit, but depending on where your wheel sits in the dropouts you may need to trim a little bit of material from the section where your axle passes through. This is just to ensure that it will clear the welds on the frame. Thanks, Mark

will these fit the Onza comp 2013

Posted by adam

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Adam - I believe these should fit, although the Comp has built in tensioners that generally work quite well. If you're missing the bolt for them we have replacements available in the 'Bolts' section of the website that do the trick. Thanks, Mark

Brendan Walsh

Would these fit on an old 20" Monty X-Alp frame?

Posted by Brendan Walsh

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Brendan - thanks for your question. These might fit if the wheel sits towards the front of the dropouts, but the unthreaded section limits adjustment on shorter dropouts. Tugs with a fully threaded shaft - such as the Trialtechs - would offer better adjustment. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Would these fit on a onza tyke.

Hi Jordan - thanks for your question. These would work just fine on a Tyke. Thanks, Flipp.

HI do you think these will fit onto an Azonic Evolution frame, the one with the box section rear and horizontal dropouts?

Posted by John

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi John - thanks for your question. We've been trying to find out, but are finding it very difficult to find any information on that frame. From what we've been able to see, if the rear hub uses a 10mm diameter axle then these should work just fine. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

Peter Stevens

The thickness of the track ends on my frame are 7mm thick. Will these chain tugs fit? Cheers, Pete

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Peter - thanks for your question. These can accommodate dropouts up to 10mm thick, so yes, they will fit your frame just fine. Thanks, Flipp.

Simon Smith

ive got a onza ska 2012 and the ones i had on the bike have snapped would these b fine to put on and are they the same as whats already on the bike

Posted by Simon Smith

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Simon - thanks for your question. They are not exactly the same, but they do the same job in the same way, so they will act as a direct replacement, yes. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

So If I want to convert my snail cams to these on my '10 Echo Lite I need to put the chain tugs on the outside of the frame, and some washers on the inside to replace the snail cams? Or do these just replace the snail cams completely, on the inside of the frame?

Posted by Gordan

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Gordan - chain tugs will not work with that frame unfortunately - only snail cams will work. Because the dropouts are so small, the circular part of the tug is too large and will prevent the bar from ever pressing on the back of the dropout to pull the wheel into line. Hope that helps. Thanks, Flipp.

will this fit the onza zoot 2012?

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Sam - These would fit the Zoot fine, and are a good option if you need a stronger replacement chain tug. Thanks, Mark

Cameron Marshall

Hey , would this fit the Onza Zoot 2010 frame?

Posted by Cameron Marshall

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Cameron - They certainly will - the Kojaks are a very popular replacement chain tug for the Zoot as they tend to be a little more durable than the standard model. Thanks, Mark

Would this fit an Onza Blade 2009?

Posted by jack

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Jack - If you've got a Blade '09 frame, then the best bet would probably be to get some Onza Integrated Tensioners. Your frame has a threaded mount in the dropout to use them, and they're a pretty good system, so I'd recommend them! Thanks, Mark

jack taylor

Hey , would these cain tugs fit my onza comp 09 ? i have the Trialtech Chain Tugs at the moment and they seem to slip off and have snaped

Posted by jack taylor

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Jack - They should fit fine. They should be a little stronger than the Trialtech tugs too, so hopefully they'll last a little better. Thanks, Mark

How do they work?

Posted by Hugh

Reply from TartyBikes

Hi Hugh - How it works depends on which style of hub you're using. Essentially it is the same for either though - the Chain Tug sits between the dropout of your frame and the spacer for you axle bolt or axle nut. By tightening up the nut on the end of the threaded section of the Chain Tug, you can 'tug' your wheel backwards in the dropout. Once you've got to the correct chain tension, simply tighten up your wheel. Thanks, Mark

chain tugs

Posted by Rourke

I love these tugs, they are beefy and get the job done. I finally had the tension I wanted on my onza zoot.

Hi Rourke - glad to hear you got it all working out well! Thanks for the review!

Finally Tensioners That Hold Up!

Posted by Chad

These chain tugs are the first that have been able to hold up to my riding on my Onza Pro. I have been through 3 pairs of the Trialtech type tugs (one pair was the actual Trialtech ones off of Tartybikes, the other two were Onza and a no name one). They have all bent at the bolt that attaches the axle washer to the plate if that makes any sense. Now im running these puppies machined down to 3mm wide on the inside of my frame on an Echo hub where the snail cams would normally be and let me tell you, they havent budged! Im sure they would work just as well used on the outside of the frame but this was not an option with my hub. Dont hesitate buying these, its worth saving yourself all the hassle of dealing with those other types of chain tugs from my experience.

An unbreakable product if ever there was one!

Posted by James

Bought these after snapping the original ones that came on my Onza after only one week. Ordered online and were on my doorstep within 4 days despite the snow! Very sturdy and strong. Doubt I will break these in a hurry. Already held up to a week of non-stop riding so the forecast looks good on these little gems.
