Please ensure all the details on the warranty sheet supplied with the bike are adhered to. Hi David - I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the bike. As you've found trials can be quite hard at times, but it's definitely worth sticking with! Thanks for the review, and I hope you continue to enjoy yourself. Thanks, Mark

Can you fit Magura HS33's on this bike?
Posted by Ryan on 29/05/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 01/06/2011
Hi Ryan - You'd need to use the Magura Evo 2 Brake Adaptor Kit to fit them, but HS33s should go on fine. Thanks, Mark

Is the bottom bracket ISIS or square taper?

Hi Matt - This bike has a square taper BB. Thanks, Mark

Hi I was just wondering if this bike would be ok for me because I'm thinking about taking up trials biking. Also would the bike me the right weight for me as im 5ft 12

Hello - This bike should be good to start riding trials on. It's got a generally good spec (especially for the price), and has some well-proven geometry, so I think it should be a good bike to get started out on. We don't have a definite weight for them yet, but the Onza range are usually fairly good in terms of weight so I can't see it being a problem. Thanks, Mark

Does the bike come all ready to go or will I have to put it together my self?

Reply from TartyBikes on 03/06/2011
Hello - We spend about an hour assembling and setting up each bike before it leaves us, something not a lot of other companies do! When the bike is sent out we have to do certain things like taking the front wheel off to try and keep the box size down for our courier - there's a video-guide on our website for how to complete the bike once you receive it, click here for more information: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/media/guides/maintenance_bike_assembly/m4.html You'll also receive a free T-Shirt, chainstay protector and TartyBikes MultiTool with any Onza bike. Thanks, Mark

are these brakes good and is this a good bike ??
Posted by tim on 09/06/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 10/06/2011
Hi Tim - The Ska is fitted with the Onza Pro Series brake pads, so the brakes are very good on this bike! They feel very powerful and responsive, so even though they're not as expensive as something like a Magura hydraulic rim brake, they can still work very well. The spec of the bike in general is also at a pretty high standard throughout - having a front freewheel setup on a bike at this price is quite impressive, as are drilled rims. Overall it seems like a great bike for the money. We have some more photos of the bike to add to our website, so these should be up in the next few days. Thanks, Mark

is the sproket the same size as the onza pro ??

Hi Rob - Both bikes use an 18t freewheel on the crank arm, and a 12t sprocket on the rear hub. Thanks, Mark

Hi Rob - I'm not sure which singer it is in particular, but it doesn't appear to be Bruno Mars. Thanks, Mark

I was going to get the onza zoot 2010 but they've stopped selling it for the price i had so Im getting this my question is when riding this bike what gear would the pedaling be if it was a mountain bike?
Posted by Jordan on 31/08/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 01/09/2011
Hi Jordan - It's difficult to say for definite as the difference in wheel size means the gear ratio feels different (using an 18:12 gear ratio on a mountain bike wouldn't feel the same as an 18:12 ratio on the Ska), but it would be roughly the equivalent of the smallest ring at the front and around a middle gear on your rear cassette. Thanks, Mark

Hi would this bike be suitable for a 16 year old and will you still be selling this bike at Christmas or will there be a 2012 version if there is would it be about the same price and what psi do you need in both tyres thanks
Posted by Ryan Band on 04/09/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 05/09/2011
Hi Ryan - We don't expect there to be a newer version of the Ska until later in 2012, so we'll be stocking this current version of the Ska for the foreseeable future. Regarding tyre pressures, I'd usually recommend pumping them up to around 30psi, then gradually letting air out whilst you're riding until they feel right for you. The pressure depends on your size and riding style, so there's no 'right' pressure. Thanks, Mark

How long till the bike is in stock?
Posted by Mickey Harman on 07/09/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 07/09/2011
Hi Mickey - We're expecting Onza to have more of these bikes in stock at the start of October, so we should hopefully be able to re-stock them in the first 1-2 weeks of October. Thanks, Mark

hello just wondering if you can put hydrolic rim brakes on this bike??
Posted by joe on 02/10/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 03/10/2011
Hi Joe - That would be fine as long as you use the Magura Evo 2 Adaptor Kit to mount them. Thanks, Mark

Reply from TartyBikes on 03/10/2011
Hi Lee - At 5'9", you should be the pretty much perfect height and size for the Ska. I'm a little over 6' and I used to ride 20" bikes with no problems at all, so I don't think you'd have an issue with it. It will naturally feel a little small due to the fact it's got 20" wheels and a very compact frame, but this is usually in a good way - by being nice and compact it makes the bike much more effective for trials moves, so overall I think it should work out well for you. Thanks, Mark

would this bike be a better starter trials bike than the onza zoot.
Posted by skyler on 10/11/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 10/11/2011
Hello - Which would be best depends on the style of riding you're more interested in. For pure trials moves, the Ska would be easier to learn on than the Zoot as it's smaller, and has smaller wheels which help increase it's maneouvrability. However, if you'd like to do more BMX-style riding or do other tricks like footjam whips and so on as well as traditional trials moves the Zoot would be a better bike to go for as it's more suited to this style of riding. Thanks, Mark

Can an ISIS splined Bottom bracket be fitted to this bike ?
Posted by Bruce on 24/11/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 25/11/2011
Hi Bruce - It would be possible to fit an ISIS BB to this bike, although you'd then also need to ugprade the cranks to an ISIS model too. Thanks, Mark

Hi can rear hydraulic discs be fitted to this bike? Thanks.
Posted by Bruce on 28/11/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 29/11/2011
Hi Bruce - The Ska frame has no disc mount, so I'm afraid it'd be impossible to fit a rear disc. Sorry!

hi im getting the onza ska for xmas and i was wonderind if it has hose mponts along the frame ?
Posted by callum hay on 13/12/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 14/12/2011
Hi Callum - The Ska comes with cable guides suitable for use with V-Brakes, but not dedicated hydraulic hose guides. We do have stick-on hose guides in our Frame Spares section, so if you did want to fit a hydraulic brake on you'd be able to use those to get your hose routing right. Thanks, Mark

Hey, how much should i pump my wheels up to prevent them popping as much?
Angus.
Posted by Angus on 16/12/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 19/12/2011
Hi Angus - 30-35psi is a fairly 'normal' pressure to run to try and avoid getting pinch flats. If they're becoming a real problem, you can try and use something like the Kenda 19" DH tube (Quick find code: 010205) - these are a lot thicker so you should find you get fewer punctures. Thanks, Mark

Hi i just got this bike for christmas today and when i pull my brakes they just make a massive squeak for how long i pull them for! how can i stop the squeaking noises?
Posted by angus on 25/12/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 28/12/2011
Hi Angus - This is unfortunately quite normal for trials brakes. As trials bikes use softer compound brake pads to try and get more braking performance, the side effect of this is that the brakes tend to be quite noisy. It's possible to use harder pads to get a quieter brake, but generally the brake performance will suffer. Thanks, Mark

whats the smallest possible rear sprocket? thanks skyler
Posted by skyler on 08/05/2012
Reply from TartyBikes on 08/05/2012
Hi Skyler - The smallest rear sprocket available for this bike is 12t, which it is fitted with as standard. Thanks, Mark

heyy i would just like to no if i would be better off buying this bike or the onza rip with hs33 brakes? thanks
Posted by Leo Spencer on 06/06/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 06/06/2011
Hi - In our opinion you would be better off with the Ska, as it has a rear 19" wheel and front freewheel as standard. The V Brakes are actually very powerful with the upgraded pads. Thanks, Adam

What kind of pedals are they.

Onza caged pedals, as shown on the photos. Thanks, Adam

with the onza ska, is there any possibility you can get a seat for the bike, as its going to be my second trials bike, the last one had a seat, and im wondering is it going to be a huge difference riding with no seat?? thanks curtis....
Posted by curtis james on 07/10/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 07/10/2011
Hi Curtis - Unfortunately there's no way of mounting a seat to the Ska. For normal trials riding, having a seat-less frame is a plus - as the frame is more compact, it means you can manoeuvre the bike around more easily and 'tuck' the bike up more when you hop. It will feel a little unusual at first, but once you're used to it it'll be a positive change. Thanks, Mark

Hi, I was just wondering if the Onza ska's freewheel or Freewheels make the clicking noise when you ride it ?
Posted by Aaron Ward on 28/11/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 29/11/2011
Hi Aaron - Because of how the freewheel works, it makes a clicking noise. They have a little grease in to begin with so aren't that loud, but once they're bedded in they get a little more noise. Thanks, Mark

Hi, when you get the Onza ska, Could you put the remaining parts on the bike with the TratyBikes Multi-Tool ?
Posted by Aaron Ward on 01/12/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 01/12/2011
Hi Aaron - The only other tool you would need would be a 15mm spanner to tighten the pedals on. Thanks, Mark

Which is better on the rear Freewheel an 18T or 12T ?
Posted by Aaron Ward on 03/12/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 05/12/2011
Hi Aaron - It's not possible to get a 12t freewheel - the most common setup for 20" bikes is an 18t freewheel mounted on the cranks, and a 12t fixed sprocket on the rear hub. This is the most compact, lightest setup available, which is why it's used on the majority of 20" bikes. Thanks, Mark

Well when i bought the Ska I didn't really know what to expect, since its my first ever purpose built trials bike, but I'm loving it! Even tho I prefer street over trials it still does a great job as a street bike, If you're coming from a 26" background, like me, you will probably feel a lot more strain on your wrists, but that will pass. I ordered it on a Monday and it arrived the next Tuesday, and since I live in Sweden, i think that is quite remarkable. So in the words of Forest Gump: "and thats all i have to say about that." Bye.
