TartyBikes Chainstay Protector: Nifty little device to protect the paintwork on your frame when the chain slaps against it. One logo on each side... choose whichever you prefer!
TartyBikes MultiTool: What better to help tweak and set up your bike than a designed-for-purpose multitool?
You'll also receive some free TartyBikes stickers to use wherever you like!
Please ensure all the details on the warranty sheet supplied with the bike are adhered to. Certain circumstances (such as stripped threads or rounded crank arm tapers) only occur due to a lack of correct maintenance and all manufacturers are aware of these situations, so any claims due to incorrect maintenance procedures are much less likely to be successful.

I've just received my orange one today and couldn't be more pleased with it :) I haven't been off it, the colour is amazing looks so good. It was so easy to put together, it took about 15 minutes for it all together and check everything over. It's awesome to ride just such a comfortable bike to ride, the brakes are so sensitive and responsive can pull some good little tricks thanks to how responsive they are and the bike is just very well put together so smooth to ride. So I'm very pleased with the bike and would recommended this bike to anyone :D.

just like to say a huge thank you to tartybikes for my new 2011 onza rip. ordering process was quick and easy delivered within 24 hours. very impressed with the easy packaging and assembly of the bike. the bike itself is perfect haven't been off it all day, impressed with how responsive the brakes are and the weight of the bike. i was very doubtful as wether to buy the rip or a 26" as i am 6 foot 4 so i gave tartybikes a call and they gave me all the sizing info i needed. thank you for all my freebies also. would recommend the bike and using tartybikes to anyone. :-)

overall i love the bike :) brakes are really good , its really light :) and looks great the only thing is after about a month of riding i found that the crank rubbed on the frame and that it has worn it down to the metal :S so might need either new bb or another chain protector might work ? apart from that really goo buy :)
Reply from TartyBikes on 26/10/2011
Hi Ollie - I'm glad you like the bike! They're a great way to get into riding trials. Regarding the crank rubbing on the frame - there isn't usually all that much clearance on the Rip, but I haven't really heard of them actually rubbing the frame before. If you've got any concerns about it feel free to send us an e-mail with a little more info about where and how often it occurs. Thanks for the review, and I hope you continue to enjoy the bike!

What is the difference between this bike and the old Onza Rip 2010?

Hi Matthew - The 2011 Rip has upgraded tyres and an updated paint-job. Thanks, Mark

Has it got disc brake mounts?
Posted by Daryn Park on 29/05/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 01/06/2011
Hi Daryn - The Rip is a non-disc bike, and has no mounts on the frame/fork/wheelset. Thanks, Mark

Reply from TartyBikes on 27/06/2011
Hi Chris - You should definitely find the Rip (either 2010 or 2011 - the overall spec is virtually identical from one to the other) better for bunnyhopping, endoing and doing any real trials on compared to your GT. The Rip is designed with beginners in mind, so if you're looking to get into the world of trials it's a great place to start! Thanks, Mark

Are The v-brakes good??? Just wondering or are the Onza Ska's Better?
Posted by lewis dixon on 23/08/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 23/08/2011
Hi Lewis - The actual V-Brake arms and levers themselves are very, very similar between the Rip and the Ska. The main difference between the two is that the Ska has upgraded brake pads which are a lot softer and stickier than the standard pads found on the Rip. Thanks, Mark

hi i was wondering if the bike would be sent completely built up or is it in pieces
Posted by sam on 13/09/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 14/09/2011
Hi Sam - We spend around an hour on each bike in our workshop, checking it over and setting it up for you. When we send the bike we have to do things like taking the front wheel out to make the box a little smaller (to help keep postage costs down), but the main things like your brakes and chain tension should still be set up when the bike reaches you. For more information on this, you can check out our assembly guide here: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/media/guides/maintenance_bike_assembly/m4.html Thanks, Mark

do's this bike have the 19 inch rear wheele and the 20x2.50 tire on thanx?
Posted by jobe on 24/09/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 26/09/2011
Hi Jobe - The Rip has a 20" wheel front and rear, and uses a 20 x 2.4" tyre. Thanks, Mark

hey want this bike, but the wheels arent sealed is it worth buying? or will they go wobbly and break?

Reply from TartyBikes on 30/09/2011
Hi Jordan - Open bearing hubs do usually loosen off a little as they bed in, but as long as you keep them tight during that initial bedding in period they should last a long time. The only way that long term issues are caused is a failure to keep them tight, which leads to the cups inside your hub becoming damaged. If that doesn't happen, then there shouldn't be a problem. Thanks, Mark

allryt mate i have to onza rip frame and was just woundering if i cud put a 19" rim to allow a bigger tyre on the back becuase i have just fitted a hs11 brake on the back
Posted by jack on 10/10/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 11/10/2011
Hi Jack - Unfortunately it's not possible to use a 19" rear wheel on the Rip as your brake mounts are positioned for a 20" wheel only. Thanks, Mark

If the wheels come loose or break is it hard to fix thanks
Posted by Evan on 14/11/2011
Reply from TartyBikes on 15/11/2011
Hi Evan - As they are open bearing hubs, if the hubs come loose then it's fairly easy to tighten them up again. As long as you do this reasonably quickly after they come loose then it shouldn't result in any damage being caused to the hub. There are plenty of online guides and video tutorials to help out too. Thanks, Mark

What size are the wheels

Reply from TartyBikes on 09/01/2012
Hi Harrison - It sounds like the Rip should be about the right size for you, although sizing is usually based on your height rather than your age. If you're 5ft or above then the Rip would probably be the best bet (rather than going for something smaller like a Sting). The Rip is good value for money, and has a pretty high spec considering it's price. The frame is quite light and durable, and also has good geometry for learning the main trials moves. Thanks, Mark

Can you fit Disc Brakes On The 2010

Hi im probarly getting one of these onza`s . I am 12 years old and my dad reckons im round about 5,7. What wheel size would you reccomend?
Posted by Lewis on 28/03/2012
Reply from TartyBikes on 29/03/2012
Hi Lewis - I think any of the 20" Onza range would be a good size for you (with the exception of the Sting as that is aimed at shorter riders). They're all designed for riders for about 5ft upwards, all the way up to those over 6ft. In terms of the best one for you, I think that would largely come down to your budget. All the Onza bikes are good value for money and have a good range of parts on them at whichever price point you aim for. They're a really good way of getting into trials (I myself started on an Onza about 11-12 years ago) so I don't think you'd be disappointed by any of them. Thanks, Mark

is there anyway you could put a seat on this bike ? thanks.
Posted by David on 10/04/2012
Reply from TartyBikes on 10/04/2012
Hi David - Unfortunately there's no real way of attaching a seat to the Rip, sorry. For trials moves this is definitely a good thing though as it saves weight and allows extra freedom of movement. Thanks, Mark
